Michał Jopek is a Polish lirico-spinto tenor of the emerging generation, steadily developing his presence on opera and concert stages in Poland and abroad. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Vocal and Acting Studies at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, where he completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Vocal Performance. He studied under Bartłomiej Tomaka, DMus, and Prof. Ryszard Wiesław Bednarek.
His musical journey began at the Grażyna Bacewicz State Music School Complex in Koszalin, where he completed guitar studies under Dariusz Schmidt, MA, as well as solo singing studies under Lucyna Górska, MA. Over time, singing became the central focus of his artistic development, leading him towards operatic repertoire and professional vocal studies.
He has refined his vocal artistry through masterclasses with distinguished teachers and artists including Barbara Kubiak, Mariusz Kwiecień, Eva Randová, Marcin Bronikowski, Dariusz Stachura, Pierro Giuliacci, Marco Iezzi and Marek Rzepka. He also developed his stagecraft through acting workshops led by Ireneusz Czop and Renata Dymna. In the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 academic years, he was a recipient of the Rector’s Scholarship at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz.
Jopek made his stage debut in 2017 in operetta repertoire and appeared at Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz the following year. Since then, he has steadily expanded a repertoire encompassing opera, operetta and concert works.
Among the principal roles in his repertoire are Alfredo Germont in Verdi’s La Traviata, the Prince in Dvořák’s Rusalka, Don José in Bizet’s Carmen, Damazy in Moniuszko’s The Haunted Manor, and the title role in a concert performance of Gounod’s Faust. His operetta repertoire includes Edwin in Kálmán’s Die Csárdásfürstin, Gabriel von Eisenstein and Alfred in Johann Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus, as well as Count Danilo Danilovich and Camille de Rosillon in Lehár’s Die lustige Witwe.
The 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 seasons mark an important new stage in Michał Jopek’s artistic development. In 2025/2026 he makes his debut as Alfredo Germont in Verdi’s La Traviata at Severočeské divadlo opery a baletu v Ústí nad Labem in the Czech Republic. During the same season he also appears as tenor soloist in Mendelssohn’s Paulus in Warsaw and in the neoCLASSICA “VOICES” project with the Toruń Symphony Orchestra. In the 2026/2027 season, he expands his repertoire with the role of the Prince in Dvořák’s Rusalka in collaboration with Severočeská filharmonie Teplice. This debut represents a further step towards repertoire suited to the character and development of his lirico-spinto voice.
Michał Jopek has collaborated with Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, Severočeské divadlo opery a baletu v Ústí nad Labem, and numerous orchestras and music institutions in Poland and the Czech Republic. These include the Pomeranian Philharmonic, Gorzów Philharmonic, Koszalin Philharmonic, Warmia-Masuria Philharmonic, Toruń Symphony Orchestra, Polish Philharmonic Sinfonia Baltica, Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, Płock Symphony Orchestra and Severočeská filharmonie Teplice. He has performed under conductors including Piotr Wajrak, Jerzy Wołosiuk, Michał Dworzyński, Rafał Kłoczko, Bartosz Olejnik, Piotr Sułkowski, Jiří Štrunc, Andrzej Mróz and Norbert Baxa. His stage work has been shaped in collaboration with directors including Beata Redo-Dobber, Jitka Stokalska, Natalia Babińska, Rafał Matusz and Marek Zajączkowski. He has also worked with opera coaches including Ahmad Hedar, Stanislav Bogunia and Sophia
Concert and oratorio-cantata repertoire holds an important place in Michał Jopek’s artistic activity. His performances have included Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem in D minor, K. 626, Franz Schubert’s Mass in G major, D 167, and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s Paulus, Op. 36.
He also appears in concerts featuring operetta and musical-theatre repertoire, including programmes presented in the popular ‘Three Tenors’ format. These performances combine classical vocal technique with lighter concert repertoire, offering audiences well-known arias, songs and highlights from the stage.
